Description

When the Surfaris' monumental "Wipe Out" blitzed the charts in the summer of '63, Dot Records rushed the L.A. combo back into the studio to cut a full album of foam-flecked classics. In one marathon session, the group recorded an entire album's worth of material. Months later, the Surfaris signed with Decca and recorded, The Surfaris Play. Inexplicably, no one seemed to know the whereabouts of the tape from the marathon recording session and the tape itself had become the Holy Grail of surf music. The early versions of “Jack The Ripper” and “I'm A Hog For You” included on this disc were recently unearthed on a Surfaris' tape, dated 1963. There are enough physical and musical clues here to support a compelling argument that these tracks were indeed copied from the “lost” session. Any other answer to the source of these recordings would surely involve an even more amazing story! TRACK LISTING: Side A: Jack The RipperSide B: I'm A Hog For You
