GOLDMINE WINTER ISSUE FEATURING ELTON JOHN ON THE COVER
The Elton John album Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy has been honored for its 50th anniversary with a fantastic box set, and Sir Elton talks to Goldmine about the making of it (among other things, of course).
“I was very proud that it was the first album that went No. 1,” says John of 1975’s Captain Fantastic. “We had had No. 1 albums before, but this one came straight in, and it just shows you how far we had come.”
And of his songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, John explains, “Captain Fantastic was the first adventure that we had writing where I really felt inspired by the story.”
